Looking for something to read this summer on the beach? Here are a couple suggestions that folks in Columbia might be reading. Columbia began the One Read Community Reading program 8 years ago and the public votes on a book for the community to read together and then there are a variety of programs throughout town in the fall. This year the book that was choosen by the public is The Air We Breathe by Andrea Barrett. Set in a sanatorium in the fall of 1916, the novel takes a look at the patient's lives.

I will be staring this here in July and adding my thoughts on the novel. If you are interested in reading this with a group of folks and need some discussion starters, here is a link to a group discussion guide.
